Path: Home / Film Productions / Spy Sorge

The true story of Richard Sorge, who ran a highly sophisticated espionage ring under the noses of Japan's infamous secret police during the Second World War. He penetrated the German embassy as a trusted Nazi journalist and became a confidant of the ambassador. Privy to highly secretive information, Sorge transmitted a steady stream of priceless information to Red Army intelligence and thus contributed significantly to the defeat of Nazi Germany. Eventually discovered he became the first European to be sentenced to death by a Japanese court. Based on extensive research 'Spy Sorge,' directed by the great Japanese director Masahiro Shinoda tells the story of an extraordinarily brave group of men that history has largely forgotten.
