Dh'èirich na deòir gu mall 'na sùil
Fianais dha h-aindeoin bho mo rùn.
A robh i 'caoineadh gaol na h-òig' -
Gaol a bhitheadh a chaoidh ga dìth.
Cuime a shirinn-s' a' chòrr -
Càite faicear samhla dhan òigh.
M' ulaidh, 's e 'n gaol a th' ann
Tha fios, tha fios gur h-e.
Dhùraiginn buille bhlàth a cridh'
Tacan rim thaobh a bhith sìnt'.
Dhùraiginn osna chiùin a clèibh
a mhùthchadh an dùrachd mo chrè.

The tears rose softly in her eyes
A reluctant sign from my beloved

A love that would forever elude her

As she lies, however fleetingly, by my side
